Happy first week of fall! To be honest, it still feels like summer here. I live in the Northeast and right now it’s still pretty consistently in the 80’s. Despite that, I’m still excited to partake in some fall activities. Here are 10 things I’m looking forward to this fall:
1. Going apple picking.
It’s always nice to try different varieties of apples, and use them for different purposes. Some are better for snacking vs baking.
2. Making apple pies.
We have a family recipe that’s healthy-ish. It uses a lot less sugar than regular apple pie and tastes just as good.
3. Getting a flu shot.
Okay, this isn’t a fun one. But right now I’m getting over a cold, and I really don’t want to get sick again.
4. Saving for the holidays.
Last year I started putting money away for the holidays in October and it made the season much less stressful financially. I highly recommend saving early.
5. Walking through a corn maze.
It’s a fun way to spend some extra time outside, and some of them even challenge your brain! We have a local corn maze that’s trivia-based.
6. Checking out a scarecrow contest.
A lot of people can probably find one locally, it’s a great way to start getting into the season. Especially when it doesn’t feel like fall outside.
7. Making mulled apple cider.
You can find pre-mixed mulling spices or buy your own spices to mix with apple cider. We usually do this in the crockpot.
8. Catching up with family and friends.
I have a few family members I haven’t seen in years, and this feels like the perfect time to spend time with them before everyone gets too busy during the holidays.
9. Making apple butternut squash soup.
This is probably my favorite soup and I’ve never attempted to make it. I have to change that.
10. Watching Halloween movies.
There are so many I haven’t seen in years (looking at you Halloweentown). I really want to watch as many as I can during October.
Bonus item: wearing a sweater! I actually enjoy cooler weather, so I’d really like it to actually get cold enough to the point where I could wear a sweater. I’m sick of getting sweaty, I just want to feel cozy.
What are you favorite fall activities? Let me know in the comments!
I hope everyone has a great week!
